Part Time Palliative Care Kaiawhina / Level 4 HCA to cover Opotiki to Te Kaha

However, one of our beloved Kaiawhina is moving on to expand her career and we’re super happy for her. So, we’re looking for someone to fill the role.
We’re looking for someone who has the same passion we do for making the end-of life journey easier and more comfortable for our patients. We ask that you have a good understanding of Palliative Care and are comfortable caring for people with a life limiting illness.
You’ll be working out in the community under the general supervision of a Clinical Nurse Specialist or RN in our team, as well as with patients and carers in their homes. You’ll need to have great communication skills, a high level of empathy and very good time management.
We’re caring for patients and their whānau at a highly vulnerable stage of their life and our clinical team see them through until their last day and then for some time afterwards with their loved ones.
Our community needs us, and we want to be able to fulfil these needs to the best of our abilities,
Requirements
· Certificate in Health Care Assistant – Level 3-4
· Current New Zealand Driver’s license
· Good internet connection
· Very comfortable and confident with technology and working on-line
You will be
· A New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident
· Ideally fluent in Te Reo Māori
The role will require you to be confident to work independently in the community to;
· Work under the guidance of Registered Nurses (RN/CNS) to engage, support and care for patients and whānau
· Provide culturally appropriate holistic community care to patients and whānau affected by life-limiting illnesses
· Facilitate the delivery of telehealth / video consultations,
· Carry out tasks as delegated by the RN / CNS
· Educate and support families / whānau and caregivers to care for the patient
· Develop and maintain effective and professional communications with patients, families / whānau, health professionals and others that engage in Hospice EBOP services

We’re a flexible and friendly bunch and this means if you want a Thursday off in November to watch your kids in at the end of year show – then you most likely can. Make notes so you can tell us all about it on Friday. We love a good end of year show.
Our work environment is very supportive full of exceptional huggers and great listeners. The admin team is not only there to support the clinical team, but to provide emotional support for the days that aren’t as upbeat. Although this work can be tough, the working environment here is super supportive and cake just magically appears quite regularly.
