1) Have something to eat or drink.
Look after yourself. Sometimes we forget to sit down and have something to drink, things catch up on you, the world is too fast. So take some time out and enjoy an apple or a glass of water. Or a pizza.
2) Do something nice for someone
Here at Hospice EBOP, we take extra special care to watch out for our team, and anyone who might walk through our doors. You never know what is going on in someone's life and something so simple as being nice can change someone's day for the better.
3) Connect with others
Check in with a friend or whānau. Someone, somewhere needs to talk and it could even be yourself. Pick up the phone and call a loved one, pay a compliment to someone in town, or praise a collegue for their hard mahi.
Communicating with others is a skill unique to humans and is important in managing many aspects of mental health.
4) Stop for a moment
Take a breath and enjoy the moment. We live in a beautiful part of the world where it doesn't take too long to drive, or walk, somewhere to take in an amazing view or get some fresh air.
Take a minute to stop and breathe. Feel the air on your face and smell the cow poo poo's. It's invigorating.
5) Do an activity
Go for a walk, or join a club. Set aside some time in your day to do an activity you enjoy even if it's just colouring in one of those easter egg hunts with your kids. Hobbies or activities inspire your outlook in life.
