Volunteer Coordinator

Based in Whakatāne

Part-time

Something has gone down within the Hospice offices on Goulstone Road and it’s all very dramatic. One person refused to bake any more cake. Someone even launched themselves on the floor and flopped around outside like a wet fish. Kind of like a Liverpool Football player.

We’re just kidding. Half kidding. We’re mostly kidding apart from the bit about the Liverpool football player.

The truth is that Dan, our volunteer coordinator, who supports Liverpool FC, has made the tough decision to go back to the homeland to be with family and while we 100% support Dan, we now think that Liverpool has a terrible football team. But also, this means that we need another someone to fill his boots.

With our volunteer database of nearly 150 people, it’s a tough but rewarding gig and a wonderful way to meet people. We need a someone with super amiable people skills and the ability to manage rosters, write newsletters, organise volunteer events and train and recruit new volunteers. This person will be liaising with the nurses to find patient volunteers, and the admin staff to organise volunteers for events. You’ll essentially be the point of contact to every one of our volunteers.

You will need;

  • A current NZ driver’s license.

  • Be a NZ resident or Citizen.

  • The role requires 16-24 hours of work per week which can be worked at a time that is suitable to the employee and employer.

  • Experience working with volunteers

Have we sold it to you yet?

Here’s what we can also offer you...

We love families and pets and stories and weekends. If you have a family (this includes pets), you’re almost expected to share stories of your weekends with us since we’ll be your new work family.

We’re a flexible bunch, we’re quite happy to eat vanilla cake if chocolate isn’t available. But this also means, if you want a Thursday off in November to watch your kids in at the end of year show – then we’ll do our best to make this happen. Make notes so you can tell us all about it on Friday. We love a good end of year show.

Our work environment is very supportive full of exceptional huggers and great listeners. The admin team is not only there to support the clinical team and the great work that they do, but to provide emotional support and scones for the days that aren’t as upbeat.
