Here are a few things we have to Fundraise for.

BED EXTENSION KIT AND MATTRESS
*$360
A Bed Extension Kit and Mattress plays a vital role in palliative care because it directly supports comfort, dignity, safety and clinical care for people with a life-limiting illness.
Standard hospital beds that we loan out can be too short for some of our taller patients. The extension kit lengthens the bed, allowing the patient to lie fully supported.
This proper positioning reduces muscle strain, joint discomfort and restlessness - all very important for comfort care.

ALTERNATING
AIR MATTRESS
*$4000
An alternating air mattress is often essential in palliative care because it directly addresses one of the biggest risks for patients who are very unwell—prolonged pressure on the body from immobility.
In palliative settings, many patients spend long periods in bed due to weakness, pain, or advanced illness. This makes them highly vulnerable to pressure injuries (bedsores), which can develop quickly and cause significant discomfort, infection risk, and reduced quality of life.
An alternating air mattress helps prevent this by continuously redistributing pressure. Its air cells inflate and deflate in cycles, meaning no single part of the body is under constant contact for too long.

WHEELCHAIR
*$700
A wheelchair provides palliative patients with greater comfort, independence, and the ability to remain connected to the world around them. When walking becomes difficult or unsafe, a wheelchair enables people to move more easily, conserve energy, and take part in everyday moments with family and whānau.

ELECTRIC RECLINING CHAIR
*$1500
A mechanical or electric recliner chair (such as a La-Z-Boy) offers comfort, support, and ease for palliative patients who may find it difficult to sit, stand, or reposition themselves.
With smooth lift and recline functions, these chairs help reduce strain, improve circulation, and make transferring safer for both patients and caregivers. Most importantly, they provide a comfortable place to rest, relax, and spend time with loved ones, supporting dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
