Hospice Shop Furniture Donations

We receive many wonderful and unique items into all 3 of our Hospice shops. Most of the large items that are donated to the Hospice shops are picked up by our van driver Gavin and delivered to either our Whakatane, Opotiki or Kawerau shop. Hospice EBOP has a free furniture pick up service. There is also a delivery service for large items that are bought in the shops but there is a small fee charged for delivery.

Over the past 12 months Hospice EBOP has been so grateful to receive many wonderful items of furniture such as, a swamp kauri sideboard, a brand-new king-size mattress, a large exotic leopard statue, a glory box handmade in South Africa, a brand-new lazy boy chair as well as some well loved couches, beds, tables and chairs, side boards, armchairs, coffee tables, sun loungers, the list is endless. A lot of the furniture we receive is vintage, a lot of them made from native timber but sometimes we get Oak and Walnut pieces and more modern kit set items aswell.

We also receive some electrical goods such as fridges, washing machines and dryers. All electrical items that we receive into our shops are tested to ensure they are in proper working order before they are put into the shops for sale.

One of our most popular items to sell when it comes to furniture is beds. We are always in need of good quality bed bases and mattresses.

We can never have enough furniture items in our shops and we are always keen to get more furniture donations to fill out our large Whakatane and Opotiki shops. Our Kawerau shop has a smaller floor space but we can still fit a bed and a couple of couches strategically into it.

All the profits from our shops go directly back into funding our free palliative care service, which is available to people throughout the Eastern Bay of Plenty, from Matata to Ruatoki and right down the East Coast to Te Kaha.

Our van driver works 5 days a week and works between picking up and delivering our palliative care equipment and doing pick ups and deliveries for our 3 shops.

If you have large items you’d like to donate to one of our shops, please give your nearest shop a call to arrange pick up or call the Hospice office on 07 307 2244.
